Highlights in Species Distribution Puget
Sound's intertidal biotic communities show striking spatial patterns. For example,
there is a strong, multi-year gradient in species richness, with richness values
increasing in the north. Trophic analysis shows the relative proportion of each
community represented by different trophic levels. Some trophic levels show similar
patterns to richness (such as primary producers and carnivores), other trophic
levels show different patterns or no pattern.
